With the suspension of his campaign, Sanders’ days as a presidential candidate have ended. However, his economic proposals such as universal health care, free higher education, and a sharp boost to the minimum wage, will still be around.
Some of his proposed policies may even work their way into the 2020 platform of the Democrat party. Health care as a basic human right may sound good, but the result is the loss of choice of health care providers and either long wait times and other rationing methods or substantially more cost. Ditto for free higher education. Moreover, a $15 per hour minimum wage may sound humane, but try to tell that to our least qualified citizens who will find themselves out of work.
It’s hard to argue that the Bible favors such outcomes.
These issues are discussed in detail throughout Chapters 4 and 5 of my book, Capitalism versus Socialism: What Does the Bible Have to Say?
